The Brigitte Trust

Jackie

The Brigitte Trust charity has been providing emotional support and practical help to people and their families facing life-threatening illness for almost 35 years. The service has been focused on providing support at home, and at the point of Lockdown we had 75 active client families who are now connecting with their volunteers by phone and online. Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinsons and many other conditions have not been standing still during the past months and the needs and concerns of our clients remain our constant focus. Our small team has adapted smoothly to home working and we have been accepted by Surrey County Council as a trusted partner. We have over 140 new telephone support clients, many with complex needs, and our 100 trained volunteers have risen to the occasion with some amazing work. Training and support for our volunteers is vital and we have been using technology to meet online and continue to recruit new volunteers. The generous support of the Wisley Foundation means so much to us as a small charity covering the whole of Surrey. We will continue to offer emotional support to our clients with life-limiting illness and to anyone who needs us as lockdown eases.
